Quentin Tarantino Casting Eli Roth and Britney Spears

Quentin Tarantino Casting Eli Roth and Britney Spears

Ok, so Tarantino has a tendency to cast outside the norm, I don’t think anybody can argue that. Who would have thought of putting John Travolta in a movie about hitmen before him? It seems he will be keeping with that tradition for his next movies. The first movie and the one you’re probably most familiar with is “Inglorious Basterds”. He has cast Eli Roth as Sgt. Donnie Donowitz, a baseball bat-swinging Nazi hunter. Eli Roth is best known as a horror director, with his most popular work probably being “Hostel”. If you caught Tarantino’s section of Grindhouse, you may have seen him in that as well. He was one of the guys in the bar. There were also other Inglorious Basterds casting rumors.

Anyway, this isn’t the biggest casting news. Tarantino is also working on a film called “Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!”, and now there are reports that Britney Spears will be cast as a killer lesbian stripper named Varla. Spear’s character Varla murders one member of a couple with her bare hands and ends up in a sex scene with another girl.

Apparently Britney Spears is excited about the idea and thinks it could turn her career around. Now, I’m sure it does sound good from her perspective, but as for the rest of us, let’s just hope Quentin Tarantino knows what he’s doing. He usually doesn’t steer us wrong. Just cross your fingers and hope for the best on this one. At least we have “Inglorious Basterds” to look forward to first.

Update: “The Office” star B.J. Novak is in talks to play PFC Utivich, a New York-born soldier of “slight build”. I would expect more cast announcements as this production speeds up.
