Is Johnny Depp to be “The Mad Hatter” in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”. That’s what some reports are saying. Would it be a welcome addition to the cast? Yes…but, is it true? Let’s think about it. We certainly know that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have no problem working together. As a matter of fact, if this turns out to be true, it will mark the 7th time that Depp and Burton have worked together. Depp certainly has the acting chops to pull off pretty much any role. So is there a reason he shouldn’t be?

There was only one downside I could think of, and that’s the role that Depp played in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. His Willy Wonka seemed dangerously close to what one would imagine for the Mad Hatter. Though if Depp gives just enough insanity to the character, or wears some make-up for the role, it may work out just perfectly.

I certainly wouldn’t pass this up as being true, and might just believe it myself. Before you get excited, I would wait until we hear final confirmation from somebody involved directly with the film, such as Burton, or Depp even.

As for Alice, a young Australian actress named Mia Wasikowska has been cast in the part. Here she is below:
