New Robocop will be a rated “R” Re-Imagining.
I’m sure you have all heard by now that a new Robocop movie is in the works to be released in 2010. There were fears all over the internet that the film would be aiming for a PG-13 rating, which by Robocop standards, would be one large turd of a movie. We have some good news. The new Darren Aronofsky directed Robocop will most likely be rated R. Robocop was not meant to be rated PG-13, considering the original Robocop was so gory and fantastic that it recieved an X rating it’s first time through the MPAA.
It was also reported that the film would be sequel to the others, however this has been proven false. Robocop will be a reboot, much like “Batman Begins”. In addition to this fact, it was also confirmed that the film will not be in 3-D, a gimmick that supposedly the people involved with the film were considering. Movies don’t really gain much from being 3-D and I’m glad that they did not pursue this route.
So there you have it, a whole new generation will be introduced to the joys and wonder that is “Robocop”.

New Robocop movie?!! Wow this could either be good or extremely crappy. (Please dont screw this one up!)The first one was ahead of its time even more so than the first terminator. This is sounding pretty good. I would like to a Robocop Vs. Terminator Movie. I came across a trailer, which was made-up, but the guy did an awesome job on the edit which was the reason i started looking up Robocop.
I can’t wait, i have the most fond memories of this series (at least the first and second movie). I can’t believe the director of Pi and Requiem is on board this though, i mean he’s amazing and i love what he has done but this just seems like a mildy weird fit. the only thing i can imagine him doing really well is the bad guys in the film since that’s one of my most memorable thing about the originals, psychotic, Nuke addicted, awesome bad guys. also his movies always have really great music so i’m confident the soundtrack will be top-notch too.
i hope they stay true to the original outfit but add in all kinds of technology i never understood he didn’t have in the first place like a parachute cause he fell ALOT in all 3 movies. Can’t remember the name of the main villain from the first one but he’s the dad on That 70′s Show (most recent thing i can think of him in) and it’d be great if he reprised the role, i don’t care if he’s old he kinda looked old in the original anyways.

A reboot? What did the original movie left out it has to be more detailed? Sure there are movies that could do different interpretations like Batman, but Robocop? That movie didn’t even needed sequels, the first one was just masterpiece. Whats with Hollywood ruining our beloved robots like the Terminator, and our aliens with lousy AVP movies. Stop tinkering with these art works! If you can’t do any better then leave them alone. Were happier the way we remembered them in our memories.
BTW, you can’t “reboot” Robocop we all know how Murphy hates that. Check the irony in there.
I will be REALLY, REALLY bummed if they mess this up. “Robocop” is a near-perfect movie. WHY do this? But since it’s going to happen, PLEASE do it well.
Remember: the old Robocop relied on skillfully crafted models and sets. Hopefully, a new one won’t just be a non-stop CGI showcase.
If it’s anywhere near as bad as the latest Terminator movie, we’re in serious trouble.
i hope it will be blood and gore and robocop should he robokill he should kill the bad guys.
AVP wasn’t bad, it had a ok story line Predators are the reason Aliens are around (for the hunt).it openned up a new perspective on the whole Alien franchise.
AVP2 on the other hand was just trash.
just need a good writer and Director and with todays CGI it’ll perhaps top the Original.
I think the new robocop movie should be done by a different director. think of it this way if Darren Aronofsky goes the weird route like “pi” and requiem, i’ll be pissed… i remember watching this movie when i was 5 and still watch it now and again. i think alot of cgi should be used. with todays technology it’ll blow the 1987 version away.
absolute genius that there is going to be a new robocop film…. even if it is a reboot… can u imangine the fight sequence with robo and ED209 with modern technology….. awesome…. could probably even do it without CGI. “DEAD OR ALIVE, YOUR COMING WITH ME”

That is good that it will be rated-R. I can’t see Robocop being family friendly. That would totally ruin it.
Its nice to see a new Robocop movie. I’m happy for it. But what I’m not happy with is another goddamn reboot. Why? Simply, why?
The first one is excellent and epic. Why fix something that’s not broken? I want to see something original and new. It should be a Sequel, haha to the awesome 3rd Sequel with the Ninja Robots.
I want to see another robotic villian for Robocop to destroy. They could simply open with a quick introduction to the origins of Robocop and jump into a quick sequence that reminds Robocop is back… with vengeance. That would be awesome.
A reboot should only be used if the franchise continues to shit the bed. This is not the case for Robocop, over and out.
