The Hangover 2 ready to go.

People have been talking about a sequel to “The Hangover” since the first one became a surprise smash hit, earning almost half a billion dollars at the worldwide box office.

Since this movie wasn’t expected to be the super smash hit that it was, they didn’t bother locking down the cast for any sequels, so there was a question of whether they could get the guys back together. Well I’m happy to say, that all of the original stars have signed up to reprise their roles for “The Hangover 2″.

There was a rumor that a possible setting for “The Hangover 2″ would be in Thailand, but that was later denied by the film’s director, Todd Phillips. As of right now, there are no details on the movie, but lets just all be happy that we will be getting a Hangover sequel with original cast intact.

New Robocop movie not looking good.

The new Robocop movie that was to be directed by Darren Aronofsky has hit a bit of a snag. There are reports that Aronofsky and having some disagreement with the studio (MGM) over how to proceed with the film.

MGM, of course, wants to make this film 3-D, which is something Aronofsky is said to be not too thrilled with. Whether or not the studio and director can come to some kind of agreement is probably the least of the film’s problems at the moment, as MGM may not be even be in a position to greenlight this movie if they wanted to, due to their financial situation.

So I’m afraid that we won’t be seeing a Robocop any time soon.

Andy Serkis joins “Rise of the Apes”

“Rise of the Apes” is of course a prequel to “Planet of the Apes”, which will star James Franco, Frieda Pinto, John Lithgow, and currently has a June 24th, 2011 release date.

Andy Serkis, who is best known for his role as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and as the man behind another ape movie, “King Kong”, for which he donned the motion capture suit once again, has been cast in the film.

Serkis will play Caesar in “Rise of the Apes”, who is the chimp that will lead to the simian revolt, which eventually leads up to the events of “Planet of the Apes”.

Synopsis:
RISE OF THE APES (tentative title) is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

Andrew Garfield Cast as New “Spider-Man”

Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios announced that Andrew Garfield has been officially cast as Peter Parker in the re-boot of “Spider-Man”. He beat out quite a few contenders for the role, including Jamie Bell and Josh Hutcherson.

The film’s director, Mark Webb, had this to say about the casting:
“Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor’s work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.”

Andrew Garfield is also in the upcoming movie “The Social Network“.

The new Spider-Man is set to hit theaters on July 3, 2012, and of course, in 3-D.

Is there a “Top Gun” sequel in the works?

According to producer Jerry Bruckheimer, he wouldn’t mind seeing it happen, however, that doesn’t mean he’s just going to just throw any airplane movie at us and call it a “Top Gun” sequel.

MTV sat down with Bruckheimer and revealed that they approached the idea many times before and just were not able to come up with anything. Well, apparently the idea has come up yet again, and Bruckheimer had this to say:

“We kicked around some ideas because the aviation community has completely changed since we made the movie a long time ago. So we have to find a way in and how to incorporate the Maverick character into it.”

Anybody have any ideas of how this movie could work? Would this be a bad move for Tom Cruise, who people are accusing of having a struggling career right now?

Facebook game “Mafia Wars” to be a movie?

I’m sad to say that Ted Field and Radar Pictures are sending the project out to writers. Now let’s all just hope that it doesn’t happen. I mean really, if you think about it, what is “Mafia Wars”. It’s just a generic mob game. Start off as a nobody and become a kingpin in the mob universe. We’ve seen this movie done a thousand times, some of them very well, (Scarface, Goodfellas, etc.).

So do we really need “Mafia Wars” to be a movie? No, and I wouldn’t bet on this happening. It’s just ridiculous to even think people are considering it.

We can’t encourage this type of behavior, otherwise we’re going to have a Farmville movie on our hands.

What do you think? Would you even go see a “Mafia Wars” movie?

Alice Eve to play Emma Frost in “X-Men: First Class”

Alice Eve, who you may know as the lead actress in the film “She’s Out of my League” is in talks to play Emma Frost in the upcoming “X-Men: First Class”.

Eve was also in talks to play Peggy Carter in Captain America, but the deal didn’t go through, so it appears this will be her ticket into the Marvel universe. If all goes well she will be joining James McAvoy as Professor X, Benjamin Walker as Beast, and Michael Fassbender as Magneto.

What do you think? Good casting choice?

Movie Trailer for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”

We have the trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and while the movie is being divided into a Part 1 and a Part 2 for release, it looks like they have merged both movies together to make on epic trailer. What do you think? Does it look like a worthy final installment?

“The Social Network” Teaser Trailer and Poster

“The Social Network” is the story about the founders of the social-networking website, Facebook. Of course everyone knows the site, but do they really know the story behind it. Apparently it was fascinating enough to get the attention of David Fincher, who will be directing. You of course will know him from directing other films such as “Seven”, “Fight Club”, and “Zodiac”, among others.

“The Social Network” stars Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg (founder of Facebook) as well as Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake and Rashida Jones.

Movie Trailer for “The Expendables”

The new movie trailer for “The Expendables” is here, and it made me smile. This movie has just about everyone who has ever been in an action movie in it, including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. As many of you know, this movie has been Sylvester Stallone’s baby which, I’m sure, is how the movie got all these big action stars to begin with. I will watch this movie for no other reason then it’ll be good fun to see all these guys on screen together.
